David Clark Chafin 66, of Matewan, WV passed away March 1st, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his beloved family. He was born January 26th, 1958, in Williamson, WV, a loving son of the late Clark & Dorothy “Hatfield” Chafin.
In addition to David’s parents, he was also preceded by his son, Barry Allen Chafin, brothers, Teddy Carl, and Andy Simon Chafin, sisters, Dottie Chafin Bowens, and Debbie Chafin Smith, and his granddaughter, Gracie Lynn.
David was a certified driller for Virginia Drilling. He served in the National Guard in the 1980’s for 8 years. He was very proud of his Hatfield heritage. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors, taking walks and caring for his fur babies, Peanut, Windy, Rocky, Foxy lady, Shadow, Oreo, Bullet, and Buttercup. David was a proud father, husband, and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family.
Those surviving to honor David’s memory include his adored wife of 40 years, Sandra Chafin of Matewan, WV; son, David Clark (Sarah) Chafin Jr. of Matewan, WV, and Joshua (Abby) Osburne of Georgetown, KY; daughter, Misty Dawn (Claude) Kerley of North Carolina; brother, Rodney Justice of Red Jacket, WV; grandchildren, Paige, Zachary, James, Nevaeh, Brooklyn, Alex Wendel, Amanda, Madison, McKenzie, and Lilly; special nieces, Lindsey Daniels, Alice Endicott, Alexis Daniels, Tiffany Ingersoll, Gabby (Levi) Ingersoll, and Myrtle Dingess; special nephews, Cody Justice, Danny Justice, Frankie & Brandon Smith, James Bowens, Rodney Scott Justice, Quincy Harvey, Andy, Aaron, and Kevin Chafin, and Kenneth James Dials; favorite sister in law, FlorAnn Daniels, Lisa Harvey, Lisa (Lonnie) Ellis, Angie (Kevin) Sherpinskas, Lora (Donald) Epling, Vonda Ingersoll; favorite brother in law, James (Patricia) Ingersoll of Indiana, Steven Ingersoll; special singer, Gabby Marie Ingersoll; his sissy, Elaine Hatfield of Matewan, WV; special cousins, Donald Snodgrass, and Dinah (George) Hall; special friends, Christopher Anderson of Pikeville, KY, and Allen Worrix.
David is also survived by a host of extended family and friends.
The family would like to welcome friends on Tuesday, March 5th, and Wednesday the 6th, beginning at 6:00 P.M. at the Newtown Pentecostal Church of God in Newtown, WV.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 7th, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. with pastors, Jimmy Fields, Dan Ward, and Danny Ray Collins officiating.
Interment will conclude at Hatfield Family Cemetery in Double Camp Branch, Newtown, WV.
